It all started with wallpaper.
Decorating my summer home was a labor of love. I was obsessed with a vintage map I had found of my little seaside town and thought, “how cool would it be to turn this map into wallpaper?” And so, I did exactly that.
As it turns out, that was just the tip of the iceberg when it came to all the ideas I had for these vintage prints. At a recent designer event in Boston, my colleague and I decided to dress our show table for the Heading Home to Dinner challenge in all things map related. From table runners to napkins to pillows, our map-themed table was an instant hit.
My mind raced as I was preparing for my daughter’s upcoming nuptials. I decided to adorn her bridal shower with a kitchen theme and since the wedding was to be held in Boston, I found an old map of the city and printed linen tea towels as favors for the guests. But why stop there? I then fashioned welcome bags for the out-of-town guests…and so on and so on and so on.
The rest is history. The possibilities are literally endless. My map obsession turned wallpaper experiment has launched my latest endeavor: TRAVELING TEXTILES BY RENEE RUCCI DESIGN.
